Dougherty Laser Vision Selected for Tetraflex IOL Clinical Trial

Practice to Serve as One of Just Five Vision Centers Nationwide to Participate in Phase 3 FDA Study of Next Generation Accommodating Lens

Los Angeles – October 20, 2005 – Dougherty Laser Vision has been selected as one of just five refractive surgery centers in the nation to participate in the Phase 3 FDA clinical study of the new Tetraflex™ accommodating intraocular lens (IOL) implant.
The Tetraflex is designed to provide permanent clear reading, intermediate and distance vision for patients with presbyopia (i.e., age-related loss of zooming power). It represents a significant advancement over earlier generation accommodating lenses in terms of its design and performance. Results from earlier international clinical studies are very promising.

The lens implant procedure takes just minutes, and is essentially identical to standard intraocular lens insertion during cataract surgery. The Tetraflex is manufactured by Lenstec (St. Petersburg, FL), which has a long and distinguished history of producing innovative, high quality lenses.

About Paul Dougherty, M.D.
Dr. Dougherty is medical director and chief refractive surgeon at Dougherty Laser Vision, which has offices in Los Angeles, Camarillo, Santa Barbara and Thousand Oaks. He also serves as a clinical instructor at UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute. Dr. Dougherty has performed laser vision correction since 1993. He lectures internationally on a range of refractive and corneal surgery issues, and has authored numerous studies published in leading peer-reviewed journals.
